The short version

Take one timed mock. Compare each skill with your target. The bigger the gap, the longer you need. Then put most of your time into the weakest skill.

Four things that decide it

  • Your goal: citizenship needs listening and speaking. Express Entry needs all four skills.
  • Your baseline: a strong reading score says little about your writing or speaking.
  • Your target: CLB 7 and CLB 9 are very different amounts of work.
  • Your week: three focused hours beat one long weekend cram.

A simple weekly plan

  • One listening or reading session, with a review of every miss.
  • One writing task, checked against the task points.
  • Two or three speaking tasks, recorded and played back.
  • Every week or two: a full timed mock to see what's moving.

When to book

Book when your mock results are at or near your target in every skill, not before. Leave time for results, which take 2 to 4 business days, and for a second attempt if your deadline is tight.

Questions

Can you promise a number of weeks?

No. It depends on your baseline, your target and how often you practise.

Is more study always better?

Not if it's the same mistakes every time. Fix one recurring problem at a time.
