Each skill counts on its own

This is where people get caught out. IRCC reads your four results separately. A 10 in reading won't cover a 6 in writing. If your program needs CLB 7, you need 7 or higher in every skill.

Citizenship is different again. If you're 18 to 54, you need level 4 or higher in listening and speaking, and CELPIP-General LS counts.

IELTS and PTE Core don't map by number

Only CELPIP lines up one to one. IELTS General Training needs 6.0 in each skill for CLB 7, and PTE Core has its own score ranges per skill. If you've taken one of those, use IRCC's table for that test, or put your scores into the CLB calculator.

What the raw-score charts mean

CELPIP publishes rough raw-score ranges for listening and reading. For level 7, it's about 27 to 31 out of 38 in listening and 24 to 28 out of 38 in reading. Treat these as a guide, not a promise. CELPIP says the number you need can shift between test versions.

Writing and speaking don't have raw scores. They're rated against descriptors, so the way to move them is better answers, not more questions.
